Is there one this year, around the north east if not let's start planning one now
I'm interested. I've been thinking about trying to get up to Maine this summer. Anything northeast of Manhattan will be undiscovered country for me. I don't know anything about Long Island sound, Block Island, Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket, either. LETS MAKE IT A CONVOY!

If anyone gets up to Gloucester ma area I could put together a nice little cruise through the annisquam river out into Ipswich bay then up to plum island and the merrimack river,or take the outside route and stop in rockport at all the little shops, could easily make 2 days of it,Ipswich bay has some incredible sand dunes, and many places to anchor and have bon fires on the beach at night, and specially if your a fisherman I know some great spots, also to free dive on a few oyster beds, and the blessing of the fleet is always huge
Greasy Poll !!!
Gabe,
You can cruise about 15 miles up the Thames to Norwich. On the way you will pass Electric Boat where submarines are built, the Coast Guard Academy, The New London (in Groton go figure) Submarine Base, Mohegan Sun Casino and and many other interesting sights. Be careful navigating above the Sub Base.

Yes be careful. Specifically there is a stone wall that is just outside the marked channel in several places. If you stay in the channel you will be fine.
You're in my backyard now!!!!!
Greenport, NY
Sag Harbor, NY
Coecles Harbor, NY
West Neck Harbor, NY
Montauk, NY
New London (has a ton of public moorings and Bank street is good, but a lot of ferry and train noise)
Mystic, Ct
Watch Hill, RI (Napatree Beach) (Home Port)
Block Island, RI (Where we spend a large portion of Summer)
Newport, RI
Cuttyhunk, Ma (This is a good stopover)
Hadley Harbor (This is another good stopover)
Vineyard Haven, Ma (Martha's Vineyard)
Edgartown (Our favorite on Martha's Vineyard)
Nantucket
Feel free to look me up (offer open to anyone in the area), or to ask for area specific details.
Ok that's two votes for "late July"
I'm proposing a week long run from eastern ct or Montauk to Nantucket and back. Locations to be hashed out here/ depending on weather.
Departing July 18, returning the 24th.
17th(Saturday): troops are scrambled. Everyone heads for designated starting point
18th: (Sunday): starting point rendezvous. Social hour cocktails.
19th(Monday) transit to block island for mudslides at the oar.
20th (Tues) transit to Newport, ri ( 30 nm) or Menemsha or cuttyhunk (50nm). Margaritas at perro salado.
21st (Weds) head to Nantucket (50 nm). Mudslides at the pavilion.
22nd (Thurs) run up a bar tab at Cisco brewery
23rd (Fri) head for woods hole/hadley harbor. Take over the Landfall.
24th (Sat) long run back to alternate starting point. Farewell toast.
25th (Sunday) head home to recover, clean the boat, shave, prep for the week.
I post the alcoholism as a partial tongue-in-cheek, being sailors and all...
Just putting up a skeleton plan. "I'm vaclempt. Rhode island is neither a road, nor an island. Discuss."
