Trans-Atlantic Diesel did an amazing job rebuilding both engines and transmissions for me! Great communication and quick turn-around, not to mention a great Virginian accent on the phone!

New everything including color! What do you think of the new color for 45 year old workhorses?

Wow, looks great! Mind giving a ballpark of cost for the rebuild? Were they tired or did they become inoperable? We have a 1983 6.354.

Wow, nice! I'm another owner of a pair of 1981 T6.354's, so would also love to hear about the cost.


Funny thing, mine allegedly had a rebuild once, and they're painted white, too. I don't think it was a "full" rebuild though. Knowing the PO, it wouldn't surprise me if the paint was the biggest part of that job.

$9,400 for each engine rebuild. I opted for all the extras, and it was still much less than replacing.

They had been neglected before I bought the boat. With the level of refurbishment I’m doing, the engines and transmissions were the last thing I wanted uncertainty with. The peace of mind is so worth it.

1. What sort of warranty does TAD offer for rebuilt engines?
2. Is the rebuild shop part of TAD or do they farm out work?
3. Did they provide a complete list for new parts used vs saved?
