Thanks Pete..
To be fair, the water issue was caused by technical not management problems. Ultimately a huge leak was found underground, they had been losing more than the entire place was consuming. In the meantime they had drilled a second well and doubled the treatment capacity. They had searched for leaks, finding it involved installing multiple flow monitors in different places. Providing city amenities in the wilderness can be a challenge that's lost on some who visit during the finest time of the year. Yes, there is just one hose for potable water, tee-ed off all the way down the dock and controlled by the harbourmaster. Otherwise, you get people washing their boats with treated water and they just can't make enough for that. The existing plumbing in the dock is fed with lake water, all you want, for that purpose. When you get multiple boats filling up at once it is slow. Ocean Falls happens to have a crystal clear lake, gravity fed water that needs only to be filtered. Their moorage is priced appropriately for what's there. If what you're after is lots of water and a feast of crab that's your place - and there's some really fabulous apples for pie around the abandoned yards, they're ready in early Sept. Knarly & blemished from untended trees but they cook up great.
Exactly, B&B, the things you don't yet know you don't know, it takes an awful lot of experience just to accept that reality. It's much like somebody who's "been around boats all his life" (but not actually fixing them) taking on a big old classic. Not a restoration at least, this ship runs and is pretty much in serviceable condition throughout.
