Getting satellite weather forecast on Garmin

Can somebody with Garmin equipment give me a very short description of the equipment/subscriptions involved or possibly a good website to check out? A friend wants me to help him achieve this goal, but we cannot discuss it until tomorrow. Thought I might be able to get a grasp on the process beforehand.
