Until someone comes along with more specific information....
I would be surprised if your cabin sides had paint when the boat was new. I would expect gelcoat. But gelcoat doesn't typically have "chipping" in the way you'd describe it happening to paint. So.... is it gelcoat from when built that is deteriorating? Or is it paint that someone put on later and now that's chipping? (I can't see what type of "chipping.")
(Or is the Prairie an anomaly in similar sized boats from that era and it was painted from the get-go?)
