Well, this is a first world problem for sure. That trip over the Andes that Beth is suggesting is awesome and will be a very nice consolation.
After flying into Puerto Montt, I would take the short drive north to Puerto Varas and stay on Lago Llanquihue. Much nicer than Puerto Montt in my view.
After 4 boat rides and three bus rides you will arrive on the Argentina side at Puerto Blest.

I have done this trip (in the opposite direction and many years ago). It is a beatiful trip - you won't be disappointed. I remember going down the middle of the longest lake and residents would row to middle of the lake to pick up/drop off mail from the launch as it passed.
Too bad about Navimag.
