Today in the Sea of Cortez

Yesterday we had a great catch of clams for Ceviche.

Today we are cruising up to San Francisco, and trying to catch a fish along the way.

There is zero wind, not a cloud in the sky, and the temperature right now is 75F

This is about as nice as it gets.

Those look more like oysters instead of clams. Do they lay on top like oysters or do you dig them?

I think technically you are correct.

They attach to rocks so I think they are oysters.

We are happially in the anchorage at Isla San Francisco about 40 miles from La Paz.

It was calm all afternoon, and now we have a north breeze of about 15 knots, just the normal day breezes for this area.

After a nice steak "dinner" or comida as we call the afternoon meal in Mexico, it's Margarita time.

Here are some photos, we even had a friendly turtle visit us!

I am back north in the wet world.
You can expect to see my partner show up in Marina de La Paz shortly before you head north.

Well... Hope you make it back soon!

Kevin,

Check your regs, no mollusks can be taken. At least don’t post them.

You are correct, as a non Mexican citizen you may not capture anything other than fin fish.

My cruising partner is Mexican :) She caught them

Steinbeck's Log From The Sea Of Cortez is a good read.
I'm reading it now. Good to see some pictures of the shoreline from the perspective of a boat.

Yeaaahh, My wife wouldn't like it if I tried to convince her to pick up a "cruising partner" just so we could harvest mollusks . . . unless said "cruising partner" was male, young, good looking, and cleaned and cooked . . . :whistling::D

Come to think of it, If only the last two were true, she might still go for it!

Are you adding this to spares on boat.

Now THERE's an idea! :thumb:

My wife asked me what I'd do on the boat if we won the lottery. I told her I'd hire someone else to figure out what was wrong with the bow thruster . . . But then I figured it out and fixed, so I guess I don't need to win the lottery any more . . . .

Actually, I'd add that said "spare" above must be good at overall boat maintenance!

Kevin, I apologize for the thread drift!

I have always had good luck fishing forforado in the channel between Isle San Francisco and Partita
