Has anyone used GTO-15 wire as an antenna? Puffin is a 30' boat so installing a 23' antenna is a real challenge. I have a 23' forestay that could be utilized as a support for an antenna somewhat like the GAB system. So the question is could I fabricate some type of vinyl or PVC housing to slide up the stay and enclose the GTO-15? Looking for some ideas.
Regards,
Bob

Most any wire will radiate. I made an out of state contact once using an extension cord on the deck.

GTO wire has plenty good mechanical and electrical properties, if that’s your question.

If your question relates to a long parallel run on a metal stay, that sounds like a can of worms. It will radiate though.

Kind of what I was thinking also. I may just insulate my forestay and us it.
