    Problem in the Swinomish Channel

In my case I am using Nobeltec Time Zero using Cmap charts, downloaded March of this year. I believe he said they were also using Nobeltec. Also, the marker I am referring to is number 1, which is mounted on top of piling.

    Problem in the Swinomish Channel

Today I met the folks who owned the boat. It happened after dark and the autopilot and a inaccurate GPS are to blame. He said he could not see the markers and by the time he did it was to late. I have also noticed lately that when I am abreast of the furthest marker out, my GPS does not show my...

1988 Defever 49' RPH, located in PNW, $310,000

Health issues are forcing us to sell our beloved 49' RPH Defever. It has served us well for the past six years. She is equipped well for the PNW weather but is also air conditioned so would be well suited for a warmer climate. Some of her features and equipment include: length - 49 feet beam...

Fresh water pump kept cycling, simple fix...

I had a similar problem a few years ago. Thought for sure there was a leak somewhere but could not track it down. Then one day, for some reason, I got my stethoscope out and started listening to the various parts. Finally could hear the water running through a check valve. Replaced valve...

    Boat buying nightmares

Back in 2016 I was looking to buy another boat and found a 50 Ocean Alexander (extended to 55') that I had always wanted. Made a appointment to see it and offered to buy it at $30,000 less than the asking price ( different market back then). The broker wasn't real happy about it but said he...

Here is a current update on a few of the places in the area. Port McNeill- Business as usual. Shearwater- Business as usual except masks are required in all the buildings. The fuel dock has short hours, 10-4:30. The store was well stocked. Bella Bella-...

    Victron Multiplus 3000 acting strangely

Any chance you are in BC right now? My buddy boat had this same problem. Every place we stopped the inverters ( two tied together) would not work on shore power, but worked fine in the states. We had to have a tech reprogram the inverters to accept a lower voltage because the voltage up here...

    Shower Pipe Access

We changed ours last year. I removed the screws that held the shower drain to the floor and disconnected the hose at the opposite end. After attaching a rope to the far end of the hose, I pulled the hose out through the shower opening and was left with a way to pull the new hose back through...

Beaching tenders in high tidal swing areas

If I am going ashore for more than 15 minutes I always go on a incoming tide. I have had to use drift wood to roll my 12' aluminum tender back into the water, not doing that again.

Choosing my Ocean Crossing Home - advice needed

Both will get the job done. I question either being able to get under a 19 foot bridge. Also, twin engines would probably be an option, most I have seen are a single engine. I have never been to Europe but the boats I see traveling those canals are very narrow. Also never done the Great Loop...

Did a lot of Willard’s come with forfjord anchors

Our previous Defever had a Fordjord anchor and it worked perfectly. Our current Defever has a Rocna and I would not trade it for anything! ( Although we have only rode out 50mph winds so far)

Westerbeke generator water pump is dripping

Which pump are you talking about? Raw water pump for the coolant circulating pump driven by a fan belt? And what size/ model is the generator. I have found a circulating pump for a tractor the has worked for the last two years on my 8kw generator. Less than $50.00

Onan stop solenoid not getting power

A dock neighbor just had this exact same issue on his Onan. Turned out to be a circuit breaker had tripped. The breaker was located on the control panel located on the generator.

    Cold weather in the NW

If you are going to be using the boat or live aboard be sure your water tanks are full as the dock water will be turned off or probably already is, which is the case in La Conner and Anacortes.

    Inverter

Does your inverter not have a battery charger integrated? If it does than you want the inverter on when the generator is running so the batteries will be charged. This can all be accomplished with the correct wiring. My inverter is on 24/7 and has been for 5 years now. It is never turned...

Considering getting the Intellian i3 antenna but just heard that it will only work to about the north end of Vancouver Island. Anyone have experience with this model? Should I be getting a bigger model? I am replacing a obsolete KVH Tracvision 6. Thanks.
