Greetings

SIMRAD NSE12 and NSS evo2 chart plotter/multifunction displays on my boat. I would like to add a rear view camera for docking.

Looks like all of the cameras now available are IP (digital). As far as I can tell the SIMRAD NSE12 and NSS evo2 on my boat are only compatible with the older non IP cameras like the Raymarine CAM100 which seems to be out of production.

Is this correct ? Can anyone recommend cameras compatible with my SIMRAD NSE12 or NSS evo2 ?

Thanks in Advance

Herm

I just had a Simrad package installed on my new boat. NSS EVO3s plotter. The installer recommended a Garmin GC14 camera.

It works well enough. There is the issue of lens distortion, where straight lines can show up as curves. That doesn't bother me but it might for some. The biggest issue is WHERE it can be INSTALLED. The best practical place for my installation doesn't give me a shot of the swim platform corners, which are covered from view by the transom. And no matter how I angle it I can pick up one corner of the transom but not two. I'm glad I have it. But I can't say its perfect.

I got it as a docking aid. However I'm finding it to be also useful as a rear view mirror panel in a split screen arrangement on the plotter. Chart, radar, and camera.

Thank you for the info. Very helpful

I bought the Garmin GC14 camera. Will install in next week or two

I tested at home and was surprised that picture was black and white as opposed to color. Is that correct or do I have defective unit ?

I know when in night vision mode it is black and white but I thought normal daylight mode should be color

Mine shows as black and white.

But truth be told, I have not spent much time fussing with it other than playing with the angles in view. I have not tried to dive into any settings options. Let me know what you find

I bought a $40 dome camera. Amazon.com

I must say to works great. Don't mount it permanently until you test it. In my case, I should have mounted it a little lower.

Use to have the nss serires. Takes and analog camera. Very simple. Any analog exterior camera will work from a standard security system. Not marine grade but cheap. 39$ so cheap change out every 3-4 years instead of buying the same thing for 500 bucks in marine grade.
