Hello,

Does anyone have a fuel log/burn sheet that they can share as a sample?

I started one but it seems most likely someone has already done this and has it perfected.

Thanks,
Jeff

Speeds are water speed without external conditions, Prop #2 (22.5”p) and assume 70% wet load. NMG and Range are based on continuous operation. If 4.5 hours per cruising day, overall GPH decreases by 17%, and NMG/Range improves 11%.

Here is my attempt based on the suggestions that were shared.

Would this format provide enough mathematical data to determine a good GPH being burnt?

I would leave out the fuel cost. It’s of no benefit [ prices always change ] and will take the joy out of cruising to distant places.

We track:

Date / Eng Hrs /Hrs run / fill $ / Litres fill / L hr / $ hr/ where refueled and $ L.

Mile per L or G can change depending upon current, sea state, boat rpm, wind for or against so we do not track that. I usually run at the same revs but not always , FOr a specific test at a specific rpm I may take more care but to me it is the hours that matter.

I have done enough of this to know that at 1800 revs the boat uses 9-10 LPH
At 2200 rpm it uses 16LPH.

I also know the speeds at those revs so can estimate my range.

I also have a fueling log - more info than anyone needs!

There's no limit to how far you could take this. With Excel it's really easy to do some regression analysis and you could start to approximate the effect of sea state, wind speed, number of passengers etc on your fuel burn rate.

I keep my overall log in Excel. There are a few columns devoted to fuel-related numbers. To what purpose? I'm not sure, but I feel compelled to do it. Keeping track of the numbers doesn't change how I use the boat one bit, however. If I were to focus on cost, I think my log column devoted to restaurant expenditures would present a more interesting opportunity for savings ;-)

Hi,

Nordic tug 37 full load water, fuel etc.
