I have also just completed my change out from the decade old Xantrex SW3012 to the new Victron Inverter/charger system.

Here’s what I went with...

Two Multiplus 3000 watt inverter/chargers
BMV 712 Battery monitor
CERBO GX controller and touch screen display.

The inverter/chargers are running in parallel in order to increase battery charge capacity. The CERBO GX controller is tied into my boats network providing always on internet access.

The impressive thing for me is that upon initial testing I was able to go from 50% SOC on my FLA house batteries to 80% SOC in two hours and ten minutes. That will help reduce generator run time for charging.

Here are some photos of the install. These are not the finished product, they were taken when I energized and configured the units. Yes i still had some wires to dress up whern the photos were taken. :)

Captain Sanders,

Kudos! That looks very impressive. Three questions:

1. What is your house battery banks consist of?
2. What other banks does the new system charge?
3. What is the cost of the system?

Thank you.

My house bank is a 860 amp hour @12 volt Flooded Lead Acid bank.
That is the only bank this system charges. (I have a separate battery charger to keep the engines and gen batteries topped off)

The inverter/chargers were in the $1200 range each. The battery monitor and Cerbo was I think $600 or so I think. Lots of 4/0 cable, 10 AWG cable, new breakers, the list goes on and on but those are the big things.

Thanks!

Victron are kind of ahead of the others aren't they?

I wonder why you went with the 712 rather than the smart shunt, given that you have the Cerbo?

Kevin, is that a landline I see in your photo? So last century. Does it work or is it just a decorative piece?

What about the inverter side - how is that wired? Does each feed a separate half of the AC panel? Or have you arranged your panel so that all inverter fed circuits are on one side? Or?

Just trying to envision how I would implement something like this.
