My boat is a Marine Trader 44 CPMY. Displacement is apparently 25,000 lbs. My skiff is about 1000 lbs. I want to be able to get the skiff onto the sundeck hardtop. To do so, I would need to install a hefty davit.

Obviously the trawler will list when lifting 1000 lbs. My question is will it list dangerously? Could it actually tip the trawler? (My instinctual assumption is no...but I'd like to hear opinions because I've never seen a similar setup.)

Note: A smaller skiff is non negotiable, and I have my well thought out reasons for wanting it up top, so no need to get sidetracked with transom davit / towing debates. Thanks!

We had a 600 lb RIB on our Ponderosa 42 and no issues. You should be fine.
