Our trip was from Elkton, Md to Little Egg Harbor, NJ. My first time with a single inboard. Left 0800, stopped at Schaeffers in Chesapeake City to top off fuel. First docking - current running strong, the down current bridge abutment looked menacing , but squeezed it in between other boats ok.
The Del river and Bay were like glass, 90 deg temps-nice. The auto pilot came in handy. Allowed me to go down and check things in the bilge while wife stood watch.
Arrived Cape May 1800. Looked at the anchorage but passed it by. Went 2 miles up ICW and anchored in Wildwood.Beautiful and quiet.
Next day cold, fog to start. Winds came up out of the NE gusting to 20. Rode the ICW up to Atl City than to Little Egg. Didn't leave the helm for 9 hours. Some skinny water in south NJ!

Cummins didn't miss a beat. We did have a couple exciting moments though.
The Quicksilver dingy went completely flat when the day got warm.
The bow touched bottom where 3 ICW daymarks in a row, were gone from the poles and I guessed wrong on one. Was able to spin off with the high wind- no damage.
At a narrow part of the channel I lost helm response- a bad feeling. I thought I placed autopilot in standby, but hadn't. Caused a conflict between it and the helm I guess.
Another was waiting for the Dorset Ave bridge in A.C. Very tight spot, with another trawler ahead. After 15 min, the bridge opens, my turn to go and the anchor windlass self deploys! The helm switch did not respond. I just about dove off the flybridge- hauled up by hand and got back to helm just before I got very near to a bulkhead.

Got in our creek just before low tide at 1600. Landed at our home dock without incident. It was a great initiation to the boat and a lot of fun as well.

Congrats on a successful if not uneventful trip.

Wifey B: Ok, you're home and now the fun can start. What is your first planned cruise? :)

Congrats on the new2u boat and successful journey to her new home. Sometimes when things get a little hectic it makes for even better stories and more lasting memories. Like the last picture, makes me want to put a fly bridge on my HT.

Enjoyed, thank you and have fun!

We are hard at it , making preps for the Great Loop.
Since getting home we have done a couple 3 day trips - shakedown for the boat and crew.

This past week I made the following upgrades:
Priming system for the Cummins
Additional F/W separator element installed.
Fresh water flush for the main and generator.
Anchor and cockpit washdown installed.
New Raritan head.
New Rocna Vulcan/rode
New windlass foot switches.
Teardown/ service windlass.
Plumb water heater to engine( it was setup as 120v only)
Teardown/inspect/lube all throttle/shift mech and cables- they were very stiff.
Many other odds and ends.

Been laying face down on the engine/ in the bilge for a week! Ribs sore- i'm ready to get out there and ramble!

That's a really nice looking Mk I ! Hull work, non-skid, looks like new canvas, classy! And with a Cummins engine replacement, nifty!

Thanks kw,
Beautiful boat you have!
Still getting used to the flybridge. Always liked being low to the water , the lower windage and boat looks that comes with it.
I will say the bridge helps with reading the skinny water in our NJ bays/channels.

You are a doer! Regarding last sentence, that's what throwable PFDs are for.

Nice looking boat

Hope it’s appropriate for the PO to chime in.
We are so happy that you’re enjoying, upgrading and taking such wonderful care of the Mainship. It’s beyond impressive what you’ve accomplished in one month. The old saw about the second happiest day of a boat owner’s life certainly doesn’t apply here. We’ll miss her.
Best wishes for calm seas and blue skies ahead.

Sounds like an exciting trip trip. As they say in aviation ... any Landing you walk away from is a success. I guess in boating it's... any docking that does not require a call to your insurance agent is a success! Great job!
