I am having trouble connecting with a DD engine specialist. They are twin 6-71 Turbos.
The boat is currently located in Grasonville across the Bay from Annapolis. Would be willing to deliver her to the right outfit for ongoing service. Looking to establish a relationship, not a fix and fly deal.
Thanks for your help.

PBlue,
Thats a great start and will reach out. I want to know all my options. Thanks DW.

Western Branch & Johnson Towers a no go. JT won't even return my calls! I get that the marine business is very busy these days - but no response? (Yes, I am very polite with vendors)
Customers don't forget that type of behavior.

Moving on: Anyone have other DD Tech referrals?

what model DD? Most marine mechanics can work on 53 or 71 series engines... If its the dreaded 8.2,good luck

6-71 Turbo
To your question, yes, you would think "most" however that has not been my experience.

Most marine mechanics "think" they can work on Detroits. Most don't understand the injector system or the governor. But they should be able to change oil.

Kind of a sign of times, too much work and not enough qualified employees.

If you are bringing the boat back home to the west coast you may not get a lot of priority from an east coast outfit that is heavily booked.

You could fly out your local DD mechanic as an alternative, someone who you expect to service the product in your home waters. I have seen it done before.
