What is estimated cost to have the teak on a 36 or 42 GB refinished and how often would it need to be done if boat kept in SE?

Thanks

Depends.

Cost to refinish exterior teak is $6-8k in Texas and Florida. Probably not including stairs, sign boards, steering wheel.

If existing is salvageable you could be stuck using a compatible coating.

If not under cover you need to figure a recoat at least once a year.

If under cover you can extend it a couple years.

I used Awlwood for my coating and stripped to bare wood. Going on five years now with minor touch-ups. Boat is about 50/50 covered/ uncovered, Texas and Florida.

Unreal finish.

You can Google grandbankschoices and see the work. Gotta go back aways.

Definitely makes the boat.

I think it depends on what you mean by refinish. Removing all the caulking, sanding and re-calking generally ranges from $40 to $100 psf in so cal. It depends in part on the complexity of the layout of the teak. Conversely, there are very skilled guys in Ensenada who will happily do it for less than the low end of that range.

You could easily spend $2,000 per year just to put 2 maintenance coats on existing exterior brightwork (in good condition) here in the Northeast. Strip to bare wood and refinish would be 6 to 10K.
