Tea Tree Oil for Anti-Mold and Mildew

If you have pets, be careful, particularly with cats. I believe tea tree oil is one of the several oils that is toxic to them which causes respiratory problems, and eventually death.

Help- Cheoy Lee LR MY 66' 1985

I once knew of one of those named Resolute. I seriously considered buying her. At haul out for survey, she was lifted wrong and the sling cut through the aft stateroom. I found her in a yard in Fort Lauderdale a year or so thereafter still with that huge rip exposed. I really did like those...

    Whisper wall cleaning.

Very nice, Rob. I love that classic yacht look and I’m sort of going for that, except that I’m going to use the existing center line (fore to aft) support member and run one batten strip down the middle. Then, run my other battens port-starboard every 45”. I as I start to put the support...

    Whisper wall cleaning.

I’ll take pics as I go. Today was all about getting that track down and the last strip of headliner where the two lights are on the port side. I had taken down the other strips months ago. Now that I have committed to a plan, it was time to get moving on it. Now, I am working on the massive...

    Whisper wall cleaning.

Well, I started my headliner replacement project. This is a very dirty job. The old headliner turns to dust when you start taking it down. Goodbye, Whisper Wall track. As I am tearing into the guts of this boat, I can see that the factory used scraps of wood and brads in many places; some...

    390 cabinet doors

Look at Barker Doors. Google it. They are made in the USA and have a large variety of wood to work with…even sapalle which looks just like the afromosia teak. They are custom made to what you need and the quality is outstanding without the custom cost, but that said, they are not the cheapest...

Seeking Advice: 1971 Hatteras 53/60 - take over a family heirloom?

I see you mentioned already having consulted the Hatteras Owners Forum (“HOF”). I don’t mean any disrespect here, but for all things Hatteras, you really need to adhere to what the HOF’ers say. Those guys eat, breathe (like dragon’s breath), and bleed Hatteras and Detroits, and they are the...

    Whisper wall cleaning.

I’m starting to lean towards just doing something different and ditch the whole whisper wall stuff. I think I may just go back to doing it the Hatteras way by using the existing structure, minus the plastic WW track, with an electric staple gun and teak batten strips. Then, I won’t have to use...

    Whisper wall cleaning.

Thanks. Please do report back. I’m in Florida, and have the old stuff pulled down. I hadn’t ordered my headliner fabric yet because I wanted to test my samples in the track. None of them will go in without ripping. The Magilite must be thinner. At this point, I wouldn’t mind having someone...

    Whisper wall cleaning.

When the headliner develops those sticky spots, it’s done. The chemicals are separating and leeching out of the vinyl material, and you can’t fix that. Pull it down and put up new headliner fabric. You can buy it from Sailrite. I ordered a few different samples to make sure I liked the...

    Hose replacement?

Doug, Hi. I wasn’t there when the yard replaced that one hose. I am a boat jack-of-all -trades kind of owner. I used to own a 58' Hatteras with 4 staterooms and 4 heads/showers. In that boat, I replaced all four Galleymaid heads with Vacuflush, and ran all new sewage lines for all of those...

    Hose replacement?

I did this job on my 2005 Mainship 400 a year or so ago. For every place I could, I used PVC piping instead of hoses. That won’t permeate. I had to run a hose from the head itself to the vacuum generator. That was difficult. So difficult, in fact, that I found it worth the cash expenditure...

Hurricane Ian Ripple Effects: Questions for the Professionals on the Forum

Wow, that is surprising. I never would have guessed that. I would have gotten that answer wrong on a quiz, for sure.

Hurricane Ian Ripple Effects: Questions for the Professionals on the Forum

Except that....many states have a “force majeure” statute which means that in the event of an “act of God” or “nature”, you can’t bring a claim against another for damages caused in such a catastrophe. At that point, your insurance just pays you and moves on without a subrogation claim...
