Taiwanese Trawler wood finish

We have a 1982 President trawler and have avoided touching up some of the interior wood finish on the walls and trim.
We have tried a "satin" varnish and it is still to shiny.
I seemed to remember that other owners discovered a mixture that was a good match. Tongue oils and varnish ?

Any ideas.

Flattening agents used to be easy to buy. I remember as a kid adding them to Gym Sealer when working with my dad in the flooring business. Now it is possible to buy urethanes in almost any level of sheen. Check with your local flooring supply store or a paint (not big box) store.

Interlux used to make a flattening additive. Not sure if they still do or what products it is compatible with.

I`ve had furniture, both antique and repro, where the finish was too shiny. Applying furniture wax with furniture grade, ie. very fine steel wool takes away the shine and gives an acceptable older looking more "settled' finish. Can`t see why it wouldn`t work on timber wood panels on a boat.

I have used that same method on furniture. The only issue is removing the wax if you ever want to re coat. Never needed to with furniture. We always used Simonize wax though it has beed many, many years.

For boating very fine grades of Bronze will work better as no tony pieces are left on , in, the surface to rust.

Early TT used shellac ,not varnish as 6-8+ coats could be put on in a day.
