I am having a hard time with this one....
It seems so tragic and so preventable. There are 50 different decisions that could have been made.....with 2 identicle boats, why did one make it and one didn't ?
They were so close to shore.....or the island that they go around......these boats are never more than 800 feet from shore, and they can land anywhere.....
watching that video is just so painful. The bow gets lower and lower every wave.
I suppose if the captain raised the side curtains to let people out, he would have let more water in...
if he turned to his right and headed straight for shore, would the waves on the beam been better ? rougher ride but quicker route to shallow water ?
