Flare Disposal

I um... hear.... that expired flares are good for getting your spring burns of yard debris up and running. I save them.

Imagine that. We must have current flares on board, BUT unless we have a valid reason to fire them off we will never know if they would have worked.
Looking at the new approved light alternative when time comes to renew.

Keep those flares dry and they will work. Even the old ones work fine if in good condition. You can look at a flare and make a pretty good guess if it will work or not.
If you ignore the new electronic alternates they will malfunction just as quickly. If you don't replace batteries and test regularly don't count on it working.
Neither is a magical solution that's idiot proof... just give them some TLC and they will be there for you when needed.
