I kept referring back to this site with the hits on the web and reference to the wealth of information contained within. Thanks to the community for sharing. I especially wanted to contact Vashon_Trawler and he has already graciously extended his hand. Almost feels like home already!

I have a place on Shelter Island near Juneau Alaska and work for the Alaska Marine Highway System as a deck hand. My wife also worked for the same and retired last year and I'm hoping to follow suit in about two years. The plan is to live on island full time and it's my hope this little diesel boat provides an avenue to venturing out to areas accessible on the inside passage. My experience running boats from 1998 to last summer was in an 18' bay runner and a 15 1/2' stabi-craft, so I have a lot to learn about glass, diesel, displacement hulls and etc. And so I will start purusing the threads herein.

I know more today than yesterday, more this year than last, etc.
