Just Got a 50' Trawler
Hello - I'm new to this site and looking forward to making new friends and seeing what it has to offer. I just bought a new (new to me) tralwer. Boat will be in Northern Cal until we will eventually take it up to PNW and SE Alaska for extensive cruise/liveaboard. First upgrades will likely be to the aging electronics and some sort of hydronic heating.
I've had several boats before, but nothing this big and beefy. She's not fast but is very efficient giving her a 4,000+ mile range.
This is my first venture into a steel boat. I've got some learning to do.

Welcome aboard!
It isn't every new member who brings along an authentic TRAWLER.
Sorry, had to stop and clean off the drool.
Yes, we need more pictures.

Great looking boat.
I am jealous of your hydraulic anchor windlass.
Tell us more about her. Boat make, engine, etc.

That is an awesome boat. I looked at that a few times on Yachtworld. It was perfect for my dream of cruising down to Baja, through the canal and eventually end up in Jamaica.

Max - Yep. That's the one! I'm sure I'll find something to regret. Everything is built to last. I love the traditional keel cooled/dry stack arrangement with the zombie apocalypse 3306 caterpillar - nothing to fail. 4" diameter shaft.

It's still up on Yachtworld likely for a couple days.

In the end, it's a heavy steel boat built from a tried and true commercial fishing boat design. The original owner was a boat builder who built it for his personal use. First launched in 2006. But has a low hour older mechanical 3306 caterpillar that was de-tuned to 175hp. Dry stacked and keel cooled. Shaft is 4" dia AQ19. Three fuel tanks totalling 2500 gallons. The windows are all 1/2" thick. The port holes were salvaged from a liberty ship with 3/4" thick glass. Love it.
