One of the purest voices in the business, Emmylou Harris and Tulsa Queen.

Here is one I have enjoyed since I was in high school, I had it recorded off the radio on an old reel to reel recorder.
King Curtis Soul Serenade

Wow, I haven’t been able to check in on this thread lately and there’s been a lot of great tunes posted.

Mr. RT, I never knew that Steve W could play like that until the Crossroads stuff came out.

Don, I get palpitations listening to Emmylou.

If you want to see the the video that goes with this, unfortunately, you have to find the entire “one more for the fans” concert on Axis or wherever. O.A.R. is a young band—very tight—with a terrific lead singer and IMHO they do a better job with this than the original Skynyrd recording. (That’s NOT them on the album cover.)

One of the most dramatic intros for a number, and oh what stage presence. Here's Phil Collins and In the Air Tonight. For best viewing click on the top line of the Youtube, and put it up full screen.

Have we had anything from Pink Floyd? I guess I'm in a big concert mood tonight. This one is best full screen also.

Another amazing songbird, with a totally different style. Eva Cassidy was an incredible interpretive vocalist — making you hear familiar songs in a totally new way. Few knew about her outside the DC area and she succumbed to melanoma before her music was discovered and she became a sensation. Listening to her makes you realize that music comes from another place entirely.

Ian, thanks for that. Eva Cassidy had a voice like an angel. I feel like she is singing with the angels now. RIP, Eva Cassidy.

I agree, Don. She was special.

I’ll see your Pink Floyd and raise you one David Gilmour unplugged number. :D

Here's another artist we lost about 2 years ago. The man with the big voice, David Bowie. Here he is with Heroes RIP, David Bowie.

Here's one by Tom Petty, who we lost last year. His back up on Learning to Fly is Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac fame.

To pick the tempo up how about a little ZZ Top.

For all you Back to the Future fans. These guys were surprisingly good live.

A while back I posted a near porn Quincy Jones produced song, featuring among others Barry White. Now in his 80s but looking all the better for it, "Q" did an interview where he kind of unleashes on a number of artists. This is a man who arranged for Frank Sinatra in the 50s/60s, produced "Thriller" for Michael Jackson in the 80s, and continues to produce his own work in a black soul/R&B/jazz genre, with an amazing group of people contributing. You might enjoy the interview, though he is quite fond of the "f" word:

Hearing there is still lots of snow, Canada and probably elsewhere.
Here`s "Snowbound", from the Donald Fagen solo album "Kamakiriad".
"Snowbound, let`s sleep in today, wake me up, when the wolves come out to play...."

Avett Brothers. Apologies if this has been posted. Even so..its a good song, so enjoy.

Bruce, that’s a nice, laid-back Steely Dan-esque vibe.

Mr. RT, thanks for the good Band memories. Saw them backing Bob Dylan in Atlanta back in the day. Still one of my favorite concerts. Robbie’s mother came from the Six Nations reservation near my hometown in Ontario.

Thanks. I’d somehow never listened to them before. Really interesting mashup of influences. Watching their HBO documentary as I write.

Here is a nice one, the video is a bit odd but good music.

I did see that documentary. Pretty cool show and likable guys. Pretty sure I have all their albums downloaded from spotify.

Quicy Jones Revisited

A while back I posted about iconic musician Quincy Jones, including an extraordinary interview with something called "Vulture Magazine". Seems his daughters got him to apologize for it, he`s 85, senior moment, disengaged filter, that sort of thing. Well, he did say one deceased male actor was so randy he had sex with a letterbox(what is a letterbox?) and with....that`s probably enough.
An amazing crossover artist, from producing Michael Jackson to arranging and conducting for Sinatra to producing true contemporary Afro American music. Here`s hoping there is another album in him.

Here's a couple from a little Aussie transplant that can really sing Bluegrass. Good travelling music. Makes this old Tennessee boy want to pat his foot.

How about a little Jive talkin' from the Bee Gees?

I seem to be in an eclectic mood tonight, and doing a little catching up. Let's get down with a little Rod Stewart.

Good ones, Don. Here’s Rod in a more energetic phase—one of my all-time favorites.

(Bruce, I’m trying to avoid visualizing what happened to that letterbox, but I’m pretty sure it was a felony.)

I think it would be ok if the letterbox consented. There followed list of guys who received the same "attention". I`ll stop there.

Here's one from George Jones

Thanks, RT. Hard to beat Tull for raw energy and talent. I saw them several times back in the day and they were one of the best live acts ever.

Here’s a pop band I never got to see but have grown to appreciate.

I happen to like regional talent. Here is a group from the Mid West, the Jayhawks, and Leaving the Monsters Behind
