The problem with really bright small flashlights is the short run time. 4 AA alkaline batteries isn't going to put out 1200 lumens for very long. Either its not really 1200 lumens, or its going to be dead in 20-30 minutes. There is no way in hell I would use a light like this for diving. In the dark, underwater, light is only slightly less important than air. On the surface, most of the time 1200 lumens is too much light. That's close to the equivalent of a car headlight!! Any light like this without low/high or low/med/high is going to have limited usefulness.
 
Fed from a 18650 cell set, 3 speeds. Just got hour and 15 on high during a dive. We carry two each diver, in addition to our really bright light.
Yes, 4x AA are well shy of this performance.
Further, my 2x CR123 lights don’t get used much anymore.
