Oil Pressure Sender: To Dope or not to Dope? That is the question!

Thanks “C”. I have never used teflon tape in any application requiring electrical continuity. However, I use it on any fuel fittings. I used a combination of teflon pipe thread compound and teflon tape on my diesel tank sight tubes. Completed in 2018 and still no leaks.

The problem may not be leaks. If the TFE tape is ONLY used as a sealer before the filters then you are likely in good shape. The filter will catch the pieces.

Use of TFE tape after the fuel filters could be trouble if the tape sheds a piece. It can be tough to find/spot.

I used to work with plastic injection machines and we too never used tapes.
I was having trouble with one machine and finally pulled the specific control valve and guess what I found. Someone before me had used TFE tape. Removed it and any bits and the machine was fine. I got lucky.


Where I have used TFE tape I NEVER use the white tape, only the yellow or orange? tape as they are much thicker and less likely to shed.
