Another interesting boat in our yard.
Looks like an express cruiser that somebody decided to turn into a trawler.
With a straight or even negative QBBL it will take a big hit in fuel economy but will be worlds better than running a pair of gas V8s at 25 knots.
I don't know what it has for power. Could be a wide range of engines.
I think this is something that we're going to see a lot of in the future. Despite the surplus of oil fuel prices remain fairly high and there is LOTS of conversation about fuel economy on TF. Personally I can't understand why people don't just go out and buy a FD boat w a small engine. Despite all the complaining about fuel burn FD boats seem to not command higher prices because they are FD.
Anyway this express cruiser owner put a sizable keel and rudder on his planing boat. I'm wondering why he still has the big trim tabs. Probably tries to run it 10or 12 knots. The view of the bow shows a very pleasing design but if were me I'd probably modify the shape of the stern and make it really suitable for slow speeds and almost FD efficiency.
I'll make a point of asking about the boat in the yard.
