The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.

If you re burning a sauce....maybe too high a heat?

Sauces cant be too liquid...too much water bad sauce, too little not big deal unless part of the pot is getting too hot....when a sauce is too thick the addition of liquid is to be carefully considered....

Then again I am just a old fashioned crock pot guy..... :D

I never really cooked before .. 50% of the last 40 years of being a commecial mariner, others cooked. Marriage took care of the other parts. Now single, I need to step up. I do have a mentor behind the scenes here.. Think 70's porn set roomie from 2 years ago at Fort Pierce and you know who I'm talking about. He will set me right with the Instant pot stuff...

Diesel Ducks have an engine room door in the galley. Easy to "slow cook" using the nearby engine manifold and food wrapped in aluminum foil (three layers).

There are several books on AMAZON about manifold cooking.
.

Definitely so.. I began my career in manifold cooking on an old Towmotor forklift when I was 18 and working at a warehouse. Steak & onions wrapped in foil was a favorite. Sausage & peppers were perfect. For veges, canned goods and left-overs were quick & easy fare. Beat the hell out of that crap on the chuck wagon. I’d typically cook my dinner just before quitting time and ate on the way to night school. Always on the run in those days.

I should add, from time to time I’d have an accident when my wrap ruptured or a can would pop a leak. The forklift service guy hated my guts.

Many of us did that stuff as starving college students or others. I f I could afford a Diesel Duck price and operating costs... I wouldn't even think of Manifold cooking. Kind of like living in your dream house, and camping in your backyard ,,,just because you can, but your bed is close, Why bother?

We bought one before leaving to do the Great Loop last year. Used it twice to cook kielbasa.
I'm finally convinced that I need one. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Deal of the Day at Amazon

Hmmm, Amazon might be following this thread. They have the IP as Deal of the Day today. Tempted???

Now do I really need it...

This has to be the most interesting intriguing sentence I have ever read in any of the forums here.

Jack (Steve). I could never cook so I found a person to cook for me, Watfa. She will be happy to give you lessons, or better yet just find your own Watfa. I would say it saves the crappy meals you now don’t have to note but it’s not cheap. :)
BTW when we met I was 164 pounds, my wallet was thick and I had no grey hair.

rsn. It gets better with age, come to the Ft Pierce outing this February and meet the principals (Jack, Steve and Al).

Jack/Steve. Rethink your answer. As a bachelor I always wanted a bigger one. :)
