This thread coincidentally led me to a similar solution... that we already had on board. (Duh!)

Several years ago wifey got us a small folding teak cocktail table, one of the cross-gird checkerboard things... and then later she got us a matching tray. And then later I got us another matching tray, added a Magma swivel base for rod holders, installed a temporary (and movable) rod holder for that...

Ah, but I digress. Turns out the cocktail table makes a pretty decent seat, too. Our situation is such that we'd never want to use the thing as a table in the cockpit or on the bridge, or as an extra seat at the dinette in the saloon, at the same time...

Would benefit from a bit of cushion, but wifey can make that. :)
