Heading from Fort Myers to Marathon next week via Marco Island. Looking to take the Big Marco river east, past Goodland and along the Ten Thousand islands. Anyone pass through Big Marco river recently? It looks like you need the top of the tide and some luck. I draw 4’6” . Single screw, big keel and shoe, so not afraid to bump and grind some. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I’ve done that route innumerable times, though not in the last 15 years, in a 4 foot draft trawler. The only real issue is the depth alongside and out past Coon Key. Shoot for at least mid tide and I’d not expect a problem. Obviously, the higher the better.

Of course, always have the option to stay out in the Gulf and go around Romano Shoals.

I left Marathon today and am planning to head through there in the next few days. I'm at about 4'0" and accustomed to finding bottom with the keel.

Will report back with any issues.

I just went through at high water (+2.2) and never had less than 4' under my keel. You'll be fine.

I came in east of Coon Key.
