Stephens Yacht Rendezvous

The largest gathering of Stephens yachts in the 21st century
Celebrate Family Patriarch Dick Stephens 100th Birthday.

When: September 11,12,13, 2020

Where: Village West Marina & Resort 6649 Embarcadero Drive,
Stockton, California 95219-3346

From 1902 to 1987, in Stockton, California Stephens Brothers Boat Builders and Designers and later Stephens Marine, Inc. thrived. During that period they built about 2,000 vessels: pleasure boats, workboats, and military craft. Many Stephens built boats still cruise the seas worldwide. On September 11, 12, and 13th, there will be a gathering of Stephens built yachts at Village West Marina & Resort in Stockton, California. The 100th birthday of Dick Stephens will be honored at the event. Dick not only ran the company with his brothers Theo and Barre, he also designed some of the most famous yachts of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Dick is also a world class sailor, he was one of the founding members of the Stockton Sailing Club and participated in many races. Happy birthday Dick!

The boats will be available for viewing over the weekend. On Saturday the 12th there will be a presentation of the history of Stephens boats at the Village West Yacht Club in the afternoon. On Sunday the 13th the fleet will cruise by the Stephens’ home on the Calaveras River to pay homage to Dick Stephens, one of the greatest boat designers and yachtsmen in history.

Wow, I'd really like to get come out and see that. Always love those boats; it was a Stephens 68 (IIRC) that Ann and I saw in Newport Beach about 15 years ago that got us thinking of those Hargrave-style motoryachts with the big aft decks. She still talks about that boat. They were in many ways the Burger of the west coast.

Hopefully travel will make sense then; we have a number of family, friend and business things to get caught up on out there that have been stacking up since February.
