What type of anchor chain did my boat come with, High Test, BBB or another type.

Thanks.

If I’m reading my 10 year old notes correctly, mine came with 5/16” G4.

Mine also came with 5/16" G4 high tensile chain.

But what are you planning to do. Replace it, add to it, or??? FWIW I definitely prefer all chain rode. Feeding rope into the hawse hole is a PITA after the chain is inside.

Exactly. I am replacing 90' chain/300' rope with 300' chain.

300' of G4 chain? Where did you get it and, if you don't mind me asking, price per foot? Shipping? I too am looking for chain. Can't be bbb. My windlass won't run that.

Sorry Pmcsurf1 I lost track of this thread.

My installer insisted on buying the chain to ease delivery to the yard where he works. I believe it came from our local Fisheries Supply. Cost was $1,670 delivered.

Wouldn't rope go in before the chain? I find 8-plait nylon feeds very well and stores easily. 3-strand, not so much.

Going by what the boat came with the boat is an odd approach. Start with what the Gypsy can take. You have no idea if anyone made any changes along the way.
Remove the gypsy and look on the side. The size is usually stamped there. I suspect you have a Lewmar V series (V1; V2; V3).

If this is the case, then the gypsy will be stamped with (001; 002; or 003)

Yours is probably an "002" which means it would take 5/16" G40.

V - Series V1/V2/V3
