Cutwater 28 or 26 might work for you. They were built to be trailerable. -martin

    Who has/uses AIS?

Larger vessels like tankers and cargo ships can have a fairly large donut hole in their radar. Hard for them to see a small vessel close in. I am occasionally near the Port of New York for trips I take. AIS is very valuable to me.

    Thoughts on inverters

As you have seen there's a large range of applications here, from large multi thousand dollars systems to a simple inverter. A killawatt meter will help you determine how much amperage each one of your applicances actually draws. They are available on amazon. I often use a small Cuisinart...

    Folding bicycles

I went with the lightest simplest folding bike I could find. The Retrospec Judd works for me. Weighs about 24 pounds. Single speed. Coaster brake. Aluminum frame. Very inexpensive. Not much to go wrong. I appreciate the light weight for bringing on or off the boat. Comfortable to ride for a...

Replacing an inflatable with something bigger?

Towing a dingy is ofetn an issue. Limits your speed, bad weather an issue. A hard dingy can bang against your boat at night, making noise, waking you up. One reason rigid inflatable boats are popular.

    Uship.com

I used U-ship once, about ten years ago. Worrked out very well for me. I brought a Grady White up to New Jersey from Florida. Othere people have had a negative experience. The boat I have now, a 28 foot cruiser, was brought in from Rhode Island. Had local references, but that guy was a real...

    Surviving the Fire Island Inlet

I transited Fire Island Inlet this past June. I have a single engine diesel that draws a little under three feet. It was scary. Buoys are absolutely unreliable in my opinion. I confirmed this by calling TowBoat US prior to leaving. Advice they gave me was to leave on the outgoing just before...

    Modified Cutwater question

I have the D4-260. It's been reliable. On the occasion when I did need a part there was no issue getting it.

    Modified Cutwater question

Cutwater (Fluid Motion) normally provides a five year warranty with their boats. I think it is transferable. I would drop a line to the Fluid Motion management and determine if the boat is covered by the factory. You should be able to find contact information at the TugNuts web site.

    Electric Outboards

I need to make on cautionary note on the Malabo video. The spokesperson made several references to 48 volts being safe to touch. Never, ever, assume that. At 48 volts there can be plenty of amperage to cause injury or death. I'm a retired phone company engineer. All telco critical systems in...

    Dinghy deep clean

I have been using Formula 88 and a micro-fiber type sponge for cleaning the dingy. The Mr. Clean magic eraser is one example. Works very well for my dingy. There is a YouTube presenter, Alfred Montainer, who has some video of restoring inflatables using this cleaner, some of them are really far...

    Tool bag or Tool Box

A lot of the "all-in-ones" don't seem to have much in the way of electrical tools. That seems to be one of the more important tool sets, at least for me. I have canvas rigger bags. An old salt told me they help keep down corrosion. He seems to have been right. If I do have some rust, a bath in...

How to keep tools from rusting?

I soak rusty tools in vinegar. Then rinse. As a bonus tools are less prone to rust after that. I keep tools in a canvas riggers bag.
