For wannabe trawlerers who live in the mid Atlantic states, Bow to Stern Boating in Oriental, NC has recently added a Monk 36 to their charter fleet. The Monk 36 is a great introduction to the world of trawlering. This one has a someone over powered single Cummins 6BTA 330 that probably sucks fuel at high power outputs. But throttle it down to trawler speeds of 6-8 kts and it should sip fuel at about 3 gph.
Bow to Stern has licensed captains that will show novices the ropes, but any sailor of 30'+ sailboats should be able to step into the captain's seat with little instruction and handle it just fine.
