    Hints that you may be dealing with a Scammer:

    • Buyer or Seller suggests Paypal "Friends and Family" payment. Paypal is a good way to arrange payment but an invoice for goods and services should be used rather than "Friends and Family". "Friends and Family" avoids fees BUT there is no recourse if the transaction runs aground. Friends and Family is for gifts only. There is no protection for Friends and Family transactions, so never ever use it to buy something.
    • Declines to allow viewing the item before proceeding with the transaction.

If you're looking for a lightweight option to replace your all chain anchor rode, this line is certified at a 35,000lb working load! Samson Amsteel II is a double braided line with the outer braid serving as chafe protection and the inner core providing the amazing strength. This 225ft. length has a 6" eye spliced in one end and the other can be directly spliced to a chain rode for a smooth windless operation. Or you can use this for many other applications. This rope has never been used and is still on the reel as shipped from Samson with a letter of certification. New this would cost about $1000, but I am only asking $450. It can be picked up in person in the Philadelphia area or I will ship it anywhere in the lower 48 for $40. Other areas will have to get a shipping price.

Sorry to say this but that would make awful anchor line. No give at all. Very strong though.
 
I guess Amsteel is worse for an anchor rode than chain? Gee, I didn't know that.

You'd need a snubber like with chain and I'm not sure if a windlass compatible chain splice can be done. But other than that, it would do fine as anchor line. Stronger and probably more chafe resistant than an equivalent weight of nylon, but not stretchy.
 
Without the weight of a chain catenery or the stretch of nylon rope, a rode made of Amsteel would not be my first choice.
 
I am no expert on rope by any means but all the Amsteel I have floats. Not sure how a floating anchor rode would work out. Maybe it would. I did see a sail boat tonight with a snubber tied to his anchor rope. So it can be done.
 
Floating would be a concern, but the polyester cover might be enough to sink it. Not sure on that, however.

Amsteel II does not float like Amsteel Blue.

Use a snubber as you also would on an all chain rode. Please see the link to a method for splicing rope to chain for smooth windless operation. According to West Marine advisor, a correctly done splice will retain 95% of rope strength.

Remember, an anchor line is not the only use for this rope, just a suggestion. I'm offering the rope for almost a 60% discount off new. Think of a "use" you normally wouldn't buy $1000 rope for and end up with a much stronger solution.

Please stick to the tread and only interest in buying, not starting an anchor discussion. We all know where that ends up.
