• Trawler Forum Classified Posting Guidelines
    • We expect ads placed to be related to the topic of this forum.
    • Ads that are inactive for 180 days or longer may be moved to the Classified Archive and locked. Ads may be relisted if the item is still current. Alternatively, owners may contact a Moderator to reinstate an archived ad.
    • The Classified section is for advertising, members are asked to refrain from posting discussions to a Classified Ad. Please start a discussion thread or PM the owner for discussions.
    • Do not hijack another member's ad by posting unsolicited commentary. Example: if a member has posted an ad offering an anchor for sale, don't add a post to his thread stating that you have an anchor you'd like to get rid of also. Posts deemed as unsolicited commentary may be removed.
    • For your own security, do NOT include your e-mail or phone number in your ad. Instead request that interested parties contact you via PM (private message) to provide owners contact info.
    • Brokers, Dealers, or those with a commercial interest in a sale are prohibited from posting in Classifieds.
    • Only Trawler Forum Commercial Members may post ads in the Commercial section. You must be a designated Commercial Member to start threads in this section of the forum. (Contact a moderator if you have questions about this)
    • Don't post links to commercial sites where you are also offering the boat, such as eBay, Craigslist or Yachtworld, etc. unless it contains a more in-depth description, additional information or pictures.
    • Place only one ad per item (you may repost only when your ad has expired and been removed).
    For Sale ads MUST include:
    • Asking price
    • Location
    • A Basic Description
    • Clear statement whether you are the owner or non-owner (posting for friend, relative, or acquaintance)
    • Don't forget to select: FOR SALE, WANTED or FREE in the Title block.
All ads should also include ALL the following:
    • Pertinent maintenance and condition information
    • Exterior picture or pictures
    • Interior picture or pictures (boats)
For maximum impact & exposure, it is suggested the Ad Title include: Year, Manufacturer, Model, Length, Price, and Location or at the very top of the ad body. When your item has sold or the ad is no longer relevant: Please post a Reply to the ad that the item is SOLD or click "Report Post" on post 1 of the thread to ask a moderator to archive the ad. Ads may be moved or removed by our staff at any time for any reason. All ads must comply with site rules. Thanks for your cooperation.
  • Avoid Scams.

Our classifieds are free and anyone registered here is welcome to post an ad.
Be aware that there are unscrupulous folks out there. Avoid any interaction that seems odd to you or feels wrong. Inquiries from unknown buyers, buyers agents and other non-traditional approaches should be treated with extreme caution.

Beware of unsolicited contacts offering to put you in touch with someone else who is buying or selling via e-mail or text.

Do not post your e-mail address or phone number in a classifieds ad.

Hints that you may be dealing with a Scammer:
    • Seller or Buyer approaches you via a direct email or PM and then steers you to an off-site communication method (text or email).
    • No posts or very few forum posts.
    • Recent forum membership
    • Insists on conducting negotiations via email or text rather than PM
    • Requires payment via Bank Transfer, BitCoin/CryptoCurrency, WesternUnion or other unsecured method.
    • Buyer or Seller suggests Paypal "Friends and Family" payment. Paypal is a good way to arrange payment but an invoice for goods and services should be used rather than "Friends and Family". "Friends and Family" avoids fees BUT there is no recourse if the transaction runs aground. Friends and Family is for gifts only. There is no protection for Friends and Family transactions, so never ever use it to buy something.

Slow Hand, a 2002 Cherubini Independence 45, is offered for sale by owner (Ted Green). Purchased in 2014, she was refitted, repowered and painted in 2014 & 2015.

Slow Hand refit

She was extensively cruised from 2016 through 2023, including the Great Loop, Rideau canal, Trent Severn canal, Erie canal, Champlain canal, Georgian Bay, the North Channel, all 5 Great Lakes, Lake Champlain, and the East coast From Florida to New York (39,000 miles in 8 years).

I would describe Slow Hand as a coastal cruiser. While she would be very comfortable cruising to and around the Bahamas. The boat is not a Passage Maker with backup propulsion, stabilization, and designed for extended periods of heavy weather. While she has handled 7’+ seas, less than 4’ is much more pleasant. Where the boat really excels is remote cruising for extended periods. The below link shows what she is best suited for over the last 7 years.

Disclosure

This is a 21+ year old that has been refitted, repowered, painted and then heavily cruised for the last 8 years. It’s in great shape but it’s still 21 years old. The Garmin MFDs are more than 10 years old. The Splendide washer dryer is tired but still functional. The primary anchor rode needs to be regalvanized again. My Trinka dinghy doesn’t convey with the boat.

There are lots of spares and tools that come with the boat. I’m very thorough and do all of the mechanical maintenance myself. Have analysis for all oil changes on the engine, transmission, generator, and engine coolant. Last haulout was 10/2023 which included top side waxing, bottom paint, anodes, refreshing of the dripless shaft seal, replacement of one transducer, end for ending the primary anchor chain, and annual cleaning of the chain locker.

In follow up posts, I’ll post a picture or two.

Some pictures from the boatyard in 10/2023. Getting ready to put her back in the water.

Freshly waxed and new bottom paint
20231106_131647.jpg

Slow Hand travels at displacement speed, so ablative paint doesn't wear off well. The bottom paint is Petit Trinidad SR (hard paint with a very high copper content). Propspeed doesn't work well either for displacement speed (other than the propeller). So all metal parts are primed with zinc chromate primer and are top coated with Interlux Pacifica Plus.
20231107_114045.jpg

The 2.5" shaft gets a new aluminum collar anode. There are spare collar anodes in the boat's spare parts.
20231107_114057.jpg

The transom anode is a large aluminum plate with raised blades that nearly double the surface area. The plate lasts around 5 years. Each haulout I remove the anode and sandblast it to bare aluminum. The all bronze mounting hardware is acid cleaned and neutralized. There is a replacement anode in the boat's spare parts.
20231107_114116.jpg

Slow Hand has one 2" through hull for all raw water. The oversized bronze frame and stainless steel screen also receive sandblasting followed by zinc chromate and Pacifica Plus. The screen has 5/32" holes with a 60% open surface area. Inside the boat after the seacock is a second strainer with smaller holes (progressively smaller raw water filtration). Screens last about 5 years with several spares in the boat's spare parts.

Hate to see this but I understand.
You were kind enough to have a long conversation with me when I was looking at a 50' Cherubini in the PNW 8 or 9 years ago...I didn't make an offer fast enough.

I watched your total rebuild of that boat, not a "refit"...someone is certainly going to get their money's worth.

I also followed your travels as my travels had to be cut a little short due to wife desires and health problems.

Enjoy your next adventure!

I find it amazing that engine has 6,000 hours! Looks like it just came out of the crate.

I have been on this boat and it is amazing. Someone is going to get a beauty.

email and PM of interest sent. Haven't heard back so posting here. I'm fairly local to the OP.

Ted, I would buy your boat today if I did not live in Australia. Only people who have followed your posts over the years would understand how much you know about boats, and the images of the ER, especially, show this. Best wishes with the sale. 6,000 hours is nothing on a properly maintained and very regularly used engine. The 52' fishing boat on the next wharf along from me has 15,000 hours on her, and is perfect.

A sad moment, but a VERY fast sale. A sensible buyer. I am jealous! Congratulations, Ted.

Wowww I can only hope to get my boat that buffed out before I dock it for the last time. Somebody is getting a smokin’ deal. Hey, before you go, can you real quick post all your pics, and maybe some detailed instructions?
Ha I know you have already done that quite a bit and it’s a great resource. thank you!
Take care and have fun on your next adventure. Hope you keep posting.

I know this is out of bounds for this sub forum but hopefully they’ll make an exception for this boat.

That was certainly quick. Hopefully the new owner will join here and continue the stories.

I sent a PM saying it is alrready closed, and in Classified Archives
