    Is Autopilot Necessary In PNW?

Don’t know where in PNE you keep your boat but I really loved having my AP when cruising from La Conner to Friday Habit. When we started cruising down the coast I also found it invaluable in San Francisco Bay . Can’t imagine having to steer for hours at a time.

    Too many spares?!?

But can you install them? Great list, but make sure you have the proper tools to be able to install or fix them.

    Too many spares?!?

Some of my spares never got used but when you are hanging out 150 miles offshore it's sure nice to know you have them.

    Too many spares?!?

Spare Parts We spent 8 years cruising down from San Francisco Bay to Mexico going as far south as Z town and several 2- and 3-month excursions into the Sea of Cortez where the village you anchor off of is 50 miles from a paved road. Unless you are in a major boating center (Cabo, La Paz...

    Too cold Vamos Ensenada!!!

We have been here for 18 years. Sold the boat 4 years ago and bought acondo. Always summed over at Paradise Village as the insurance company considers the area a hurricane hole. Got down here on Nov 5 and have experienced the coldest November sine we started coming down. Always loved Habging...

    Cruising down the Baja 2022

I usually use Banorte as there is one close to my condo and let me withdraw up to $15,000 pesos (about $750 USD) What you are saying is true but I find that their ATM’s give me a choice of accepting or not accepting their exchange rate. I always say no and the rate is then based on you card...

    Cruising down the Baja 2022

After cruising the Mexican coast for 8 years my wife and I bought a condo in Puerto Vallarta and live there 7 months of the year. In 20 year I have never had a Cambio give me a better exchange rate than an ATM. Hint, get a card that does not charge a fee or reimburses your fee.

    Cruising down the Baja 2022

Most anchorage’s are marginal at best. We did San Diego to Turtle Bay to Santa Maria them Cabo. Fuel is available at Turtle Bay and Magdalena Bay which is a good option to Santa Maria. We carried 1100 gallons so we could have done San Diego to Cabo without adding fuel. Figured as long as we were...

    Trim Tabs on Trawler?

Had tabs on a 38' Trawler and found them useful is leveling out the boat from a strong wind on the beam.

    Cruising down the Baja 2022

Since every boater getting fuel from the "barge" seems to give out a beer or two, make sure you fuel up before Enrique get drunk.

    Retired Life in Mexico

Came to Mexico by boat in 2003 and cruised the entire pacific coast for 8 years. Ended up buying a condo in Nuevo Vallarta and spend 7 or 8 months living there. Found Medical and dental services to both be quite good and find the cost of both to be about 1/3 of the cost in the US. Water’s ok...

    Retired Life in Mexico

Tex-Mex is good but it isn’t real Mex. Came down by boat in 2003, cruised for 8 years from the Sea of Cortes to Hualtaco. Purchased a condo Nuevo Vallarta and sped 7 months a year there. Haven’t experienced Montezuma’s revenge in 17 years. Most likely a combination of knowing how to choose a...
