Recently Presidents Boat Shed,in the waterside suburb of Drummoyne in Sydney, caught fire. Some time ago I used to use them for repairs etc, a family run business operated for many years, long before the suburb became affluent. It`s something of an anachronism, having started as a facility to build Williams brand timber cruisers before the present operators.
The owners live in the house immediately behind the business.
The video says cause unknown but I`m told an electric heat cutter in the trimmers shop of a tenant was left plugged in, fell, triggered accidentally, and fire resulted.
So sorry for the owners,it was John`s life's work, and for their son Peter, who worked in the business. It`s a relief no one was injured. Very difficult to fight the fire from land due to the steepness and distance from the road so it appears on water firefighting was brought in.
Video is a little slow to start, but persevere,it`s graphic.
