Nothing new under the sun

A friend sent me a collection of photos of old gas stations. In the category of "there's nothing new under the sun" I thought this photo was appropriate.

When was the last time you saw full service at a gas station?

My point wasn't the service, it was the gas they were pumping. Read the sign in the background.

In New Jersey and Oregon, you still get "service" as it's illegal to pump your own gas. Why they keep these old antiquated laws is a mystery -- maybe the attendants all belong to a union with a strong lobby organization.

Actually I'm good with that law, only a step further. Take all the people collecting federal extended unemployment benefits and make them pump gas until they get a job. I'm already paying for their unemployment benefits, I might as well get something for my money. My windows need cleaning while you're at it.
