I searched for this topic. I saw an earlier thread but cannot find it. I broke one of the “take apart” hinges on one of my kitchen cabinet doors. I believe these are called either “acorn” or “olive” hinges. The mounting plate is 1 5/8”. I had heard there is a location in Port Townsend that may have replacements. Appreciate any directions on this one. There are 2 cabinet doors under the watch berth and a PO has robbed one of the hinges for another cabinet, I think as these doors are rarely used. I robbed the other one. So I’m looking for at least 2 right side door hinges, but I’d like 6 right and 4 left for future repairs.

PS I have limited cell service right now, so may not reply straight away.

Edit: Olive knuckle door hinge. 2 screws. Large ones seem to be available, but not this size.

Knuckle Hinges on a Krogen

Hey JD... here are a couple of links I came across while Googling "Knuckle hinges" and "olive knuckle hinges" back a couple of years ago. Hope one of these turns up a positive hit for you.

Having said that, maybe you know where I might find a rudder control arm for a 1986 KK42. It appears to be cast bronze and connects the square, upper portion of the rudder shaft to the hydraulic steering cylinder located in the lazarette. Thanks in advance for any leads you might have.

If you can’t find those you might try non-mortise hinges. You may still have to do a bit of a mortise but not as much as regular hinges. I have some made by Perko.

Look at the Edson catalog , if nothing looks close call them.

They have patterns for items cast decades ago and are usually willing to dig them out and help folks. Great company!
