Painting Windshield Sunscreen?

Our black sunscreen is losing its luster and dock-mate mentioned they spray painting theirs with a fabric spray paint.

It looks good, but any long-term good or bad experiences out there?

I made a meshbsunscreen for a boater that changed canvas color and spray painted the mesh sunscreen. It looked great and could never tell it was painted. He said the trick was very light coats to not plug the opennings and if they did plug to use a toothpick to open the pores before it dried. Easier to go light and add coats if needed.
He also painted his fenders to match and they looked good.
