Nice!! Never saw a Bayliner shine so much!!

Don't rub too hard, you might go right through that thin gel/fiberglass!

Ok just kidding. It does look nice and at a great price.

Greetings,
Mr. ks. Did they supply tools and materials for the $1100? She's shiny...Shades shiny.

Best I can tell, in this part of Mexico, skilled marine labor makes around $1300-$1500 pesos/day, around $70-$80 USD per day. Includes tools, but not consumables or parts. Specialized work like specific mechanics are double that. Apprentice labor is half that. The half-assed guys I initially started with (NizaMarine.net) tried to pay $350-$500 pesos/day ($15-$30 usd) which explains the poor results I received. In other parts of Mexico, going day-rates are half what they are this close to the border. Baja Naval, the nicer yard in Ensenada, advertises general labor at $33/hr.

While I have no direct knowledge, work done in a marina would incur fees paid by the worker to the marina manager. I don't know how much this might be, but it's not zero.

In Mexico, everyone wets their beak a bit, which is fine. Nothing untoward, just how things work here.

Peter.

Yes, all materials included this was paying the marina to have their regular staff do the work.

We've been cruising around down here for the last few years. In the states, labor is expensive but parts are relatively easy to get and cheap. In Mexico, labor is cheap but parts are harder to get and more expensive.

There are lots of small chandleries with limited inventory, but if you like larger stores with better selection then it's limited. I only know of two West Marine style stores: Lopez in La Paz and Zaragoza in Puerto Vallarta. Both make West Marine look like a discount store.

I’m here in Marina Coral also, had the pleasure of meeting Kevin recently.

My projects this week, had new NavCom auto pilot installed in 1 day, $400, works perfect.

Had starboard engine, Caterpillar 3208, valves adjusted, $240

Had both rudder collar bearings replaced with new, $230, I supplied parts, tough job.

Hey Kevin,

Do you still have a snow shovel on board?

you can officially dump the snow shovel over!!!!

I got rid of everything cold weather related including my warm clothes, jackets, boots etc... :)

Just did ours in Seattle and this year it was $4900.00. Last year it was $3900.00

Kevin, your boat looks great! May I ask about the slip prices in Coral? I just got moved to a longer slip in Marina de la Paz and am now paying $1750/month. Ouch!

Cheers, Bill

My buff, polish and wax was $3500 here in Stockton.

Once the kids leave next week we'll be back on the boat, and would enjoy having you over for a bit of Tequila.

Last summer we paid about $900 a month at Marina Coral in Ensenada. Great marina, great services! We'll be heading there for summer probably in May

Luis and crew in Mazatlan, MX just finished yesterday:

  • Cleaned (compounded and waxed) all the stainless steel, to include dinghy davit and all the SS on the dinghy
  • Thoroughly washed and waxed the boat. No compounding or abrasives needed, or used on the paint.
  • Luis supplied all the cleaners/wax
  • All told, took two to three guys 3 1/2 days
8,500 pesos, or $500.00 usd.

Well worth the cost!
