How 'bout "Navigator"?
"Master and Commander" is already taken for much lesser accomplishments.

"Transoceanic" brings back fond memories of Zenith's portable shortwave radios from the 60's for all of us over 60. Back in the day all the well healed sailors always had the newest one. I still have a mid 60's radio, takes (9) D cells.

Makes me wish we had something like the British option of knighting him. Cross an ocean under your own power, you get invited to the garden party, added to the honors list, and HM gives you a medal.

two brass balls in the form of an awarded medal seems appropriate : ) There is certainly no shortage of devious photo-shoppers on here that could produce such a thing.

"Passagemaker" gets my vote at the moment
"Shellback"? No, I think that applies to someone who has Crossed the Line, or at least that's what my certificate says.

true...no need to change age old traditions...
...but I would say that TF designations may get hard to hand out without committee as to what sized vessel limitations still earn you TF status.

I'll go with Mr. RT
OCEAN TRAWLERMAN....definitely.
Robert Beebe was a Passagemeker many years ago. We must create something new and Ocean Trawlerman seems to be the appropriate therm.
My 2 cents

Yes, I like that too. Now we just need to define "passage making", i.e. what constitutes a passage. Richard's crossing - definitely yes. Would non-stop from Palm Beach to Newport, RI count? There is some group or society of offshore cruisers where membership is just this. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? If not, I think I can find out. Maybe they have a good criteria that can be adopted.

Greetings,
Since it appears Richard's new avatar title will both honor him AND those who have cruised in blue water it might be best to choose a generic designation that could be applied to all worthy of the title. Dauntless, as mentioned, is a fitting description for both the KK and her captain but possibly a bit too specific. I looked up synonyms for dauntless and some might be incorporated into a suitable monicker. Dauntless Synonyms, Dauntless Antonyms | Thesaurus.com
Intrepid is in the list somewhere so... Intrepid adventurer? Valiant voyager? Still not sold on Passagemaker.
