Autopilot remote cord management

Has anyone come up with a slick way to store your AP remote and cable? I just built a new remote but the cord seems super awkward and likely to get tangled over time.
Before I go trying to invent something Iím surimiís if anyone has a good solution.
Thanks!
AC

I fly a lot with work, and often get given the little zipped up travel kits. The little Air Canada ones fit the my AP remote and coiled up cord perfectly.

I have about a dozen of assorted airline kit bags on the boat for keeping things organised.

We have remotes at each helm with a short length of cable (5 - 8 feet) available behind the consoles through a large hole, nicely trimmed, through which the cable can easily slide. There's no reel or take up mechanism. The cable hangs loose behind/inside the console, much like the sprayer hose under a kitchen sink, but there's no sliding weight on the cable. The loose cable under/behind the console is anchored to restrict the available length and to eliminate any strain on connections beyond the loose cable. It's not elegant, but it works, and the 5 - 8 feet of free cable has always been plenty but not so much that it becomes tangled or a nuisance. The inside helm has a wall mount from which the remote hangs nicely above the cord hole. The outside helm remote simply lays on top of the console, but I'd prefer a more secure storage solution. That'll probably be a requirement for my next system, because this one won't last forever.

Our cord is very long. I use a small Velcro strap

Thanks for the suggestions, I like the idea of it being under the console and will likely figure out some sort of bag or box so it can’t tangle with other stuff under there. It won’t fit in an airline bag unfortunately as it’s not really a remote, I wanted more capability on it so it’s actually the 4”x4” second station control unit.

Nice job on the remote. Is the boat end hard wired, or does it have some sort of plug making it removable?

It will have a plug but so far haven’t found a nice 7 pin plug to use.
