For some reason my AIS antenna is broken. Not my fault.

It was more of a general purpose antenna and I would get these notices in my Vesper XB-8000 setup that my antenna choice wasn't the best. Well it's gone now.

For a replacement I just got a Shakespeare 396-1-AIS antenna. It comes with a couple of stainless u-bolts to clamp it to your mast.

I don't have a mast. What I have is the standard foldable threaded mount that is sold all over the internet. I need the foldable part.

I thought perhaps I could just hack off the old antenna so it's about a foot long and clamp to that.

But I am looking for a more elegant solution.

Work boats use masts and clamps. Pleasure boats use the 1” threaded mounts.

DD,

Well this is a pleasure boat that I spend a load of time working on, so.....
