WIFI Underway What are you using?

We’ve been using the T-Mobile (home internet) all summer, up and down the canal and Lake Erie. Works great even while underway…plus cheapest option we’ve found around…super fast speeds. I keep wondering when they are going to squash traveling usage. :socool:

    Sewing Machine?

Really all you need is a fairly heavy duty sewing machine (and lots of needles, in case of breakage)…just about any old style Brother or Singer will do for typical canvas jobs. The key to using what would normally be a household machine is to go slow and have the correct and sharp needle for the...

    Help Garmin problem.

Aquafarm’s wife here… just to clarify, I did not call my hubby an idiot… I suggested he ask TF the question that he’s been wrestling with all day… I saw the reply first and called into the boat “did you check the back?” He’s mumbling, “yes I did” as I hear him move stuff and then…a loud...

    Help Garmin problem.

Thank you Ansley S. Thought I checked that one but it was the one next to it.( coaxial?) you made my day. Don’t tell anyone what an idiot I was because my wife already did just that. Thanks again for your quick reply. Bless you!

    Help Garmin problem.

Trying to add NMEA 2000 backbone to Garmin gpsmap 742xs. All ports on unit are 8 pin female but backbone is 5 pin female. Is there a cable or adapter available to make this work. I already have Garmin radar working and sonar by using Garmin adapter but would like add more using NMEA 2000. I...

    I think I just bought a boat.

Congrats, What about keeping the mast but modify it with a tabernacle or hinge? We have a short mast for radar, antenna etc and the mast folds to allow low clearance passage or transporting and storing the boat,

    Favorite Nautical Movies

Boy do I second that! What a total fiasco of a movie, and definitely don’t want him as a shipmate, even if he is Robert Redford. ?

    Humorous/cute boat names

It’s for uncharted waters, areas on maps https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Here_be_dragons Our Maple Bay came with the name Patience, very apt since our average speed is between 5-6 knts.

    Never trawled

Only two pleasure boats have ever made the northwest passage from Maine to Alaska. https://www.yachtingworld.com/features/jimmy-cornell-transits-the-north-west-passage-70357 https://www.boatinternational.com/destinations/an-insiders-guide-to-navigating-the-northwest-passage--41287

Howdy neighbor (fellow Midlakes boater on Patience). We’ve always admired Penguin. Sorry to hear of the hip and knee issues. Good luck with the sale and the ops.

    Boat WIFI system questions

What about Oxford England? Getting to class must be an obstacle course of dead bodies...such a shame for a quaint English town.

    More powerful router?

I dumped linksys for TPlink ( my model is a few years old already AC3200). Much better, reaches our den which was a dead spot with linksys since it was an addition and had the exterior walls etc to go through. Plus it has been extremely reliable. My cost was about $120. But looks like the...

The very last and final Burgee Poll! Please Vote!

Love them all, although I prefer the initials, I think the design of the anchor is superior on #1 through 4. Great work!

Ideas for CHB drapes or blinds

Roman shades are a nice option and if you or someone you know sews they are pretty simple to make. This is a long detailed video, I prefer to make pockets for the dowels ( incorporated into the lining fabric) rather than glue.

Love all the designs, and Wayfarer’s #214 is great. Is it possible to put all the designs in a poll and vote on them?

    Canvas snap replacement

I’ve had very good luck with the Sailrite snaps with just a hammer and die. Made new front canvas window covers and side screen covers three years ago and they are like new.

Don I like both your entries. Maybe #2 a tad more for the easy to understand aspect. Both great looking.

    TF Burgee

+1 for Rochepoint. I think the logo works well on the burgee.
