    Regular parts replacement

Actually those numbers seem about right to me. That boat and engines (V504NA) being of 1977 vintage the hull probably plans at about 14 MPH plus or minus. Tolly's of that era run about the same numbers.

    Osprey deterence

Additional antennas help a lot. I've got outriggers and three antennas off my hardtop and few birds will land even though my boat is one of the taller ones in the marina. I think the vertical rods act as a deterrent making it difficult for the birds to land.

Any recommendations for rain gear in pacific north west?

I agree some the waterproof foulies are too heavy. I wear the Grundens Neptune Anorak and Bids. They are waterproof but a bit lighter weight then the heavyweight offerings and for me perfect for the PNW and SE Alaska weather.

    Volvo engines

Volvo Penta engines are highly regarded in the PNW and Alaska where many commercial fishermen prefer Volvo in the 300-500HP range. Spend time in Bristol Bay Alaska and the you will see a huge number of Volvo powered boats. Service and parts availability has been good in my experience and my...

    Dinghy Recommendations

Dave, Glad to hear You’re having a good experience with NW inflatables. I’m always a bit cautious about recommending companies but when I have a great experience such as I had with Steve, I do. Maybe I’ll you out on the water someday in your new dinghy. John

    Dinghy Recommendations

A good friend has had the same problem with Waypointe as what your experiencing. I would call NW Inflatables in Gig Harbor. I purchased my AB Lammina AL 10 from them and they treated me great. He is getting some boats in from what the heard recently but containers are backed up in the West Coast...

    Orcas island ferry terminal

Should also clarify, that was bringing the big boat into the dock, not the dinghy.

    Orcas island ferry terminal

You also want to be aware of the tide height. I've dropped people off at lower tides and it'll get fairly shallow, 3-5ft as I remember.

    Help explain coolant expansion tank??

Prospective, I have the same Volvo engines as you except mine are the 430HP 74 LB. My set-up does not have the overflow bottles with any excess draining into the bilge. My owners manual is very specific regarding the fluid level in the expansion tank. The level should be at the second knuckle on...

    Boat Appraiser needed Puget Sound

Jerry Edwards and Ed Gonsorowski are two that I would recommend. PM if you'd like their contact details.

    Everett to Fishermans Bay

I've gone all three ways but its always wind and tides dependent. Have fun. I'll be up there in a couple of weeks.

It's happened again. Boat meets rock in Prevost

Been in there dozens of times over the years and never a problem but were always very careful and moving slow.

    PNW insurance rates

I too saw a 10% renewal increase after 3 years without a claim. I had my broker go out and shop the market and found the new rate to be competitive. As I remember he mentioned the losses for insurers in the SE USA has impacted all of our rates.

    The Sinking Of The Norwester

Real sorry to see this happen to the Norwester. There is a saying when boating in the San Juan and Canadian Gulf Islands, "There are two kinds of boaters, those that have hit a rock and those that have yet to hit a rock". It can be a nasty place if your not on your "A" game. I always try to be...

    Shipping Boat to the Med

I'm in the shipping biz and can tell you that container shipping lines really dislike handling deck cargo such as boats. If it'll fit on a standard flat rack 40'L X 8'W then they will quote a rate. If it displaces other cargo the cost will reflect that, as stated earlier. That said, Container...
