Hello. Jose. If I still had my GB42 and lived where you do, I would be doing the same things you have done and will soon be doing! We all look forward to hearing of your adventures. Can you tell us wheat engines and generator you have aboard.

    Fuel Gauge - 2001 Mainship 34 Pilot

Yeah, Bill, you gotta watch pressing that red button! The battery select switch simply allows me a digital method of checking the two banks' voltages. Start and thruster banks are one and the same, my two Odyssey 34 PC1500 start bank AGM batteries joined in parallel. My house bank of two...

    Fuel Gauge - 2001 Mainship 34 Pilot

It is probably set up like my 30 Pilot II was when I bought it nine years ago with level sensors in both tanks but only one connected to the fuel gauge. You need to find the sensor on the top of each tank to see which one has a wire connected. I ended up running a wire to the helm from the...

    Another Engine Smoke Question

You know the old joke, "Hey doc, it hurts when I do this." And the doc says, "Well, don't do that." I would not run the engine in the RPM range where you are seeing the symptoms.

    Another Engine Smoke Question

As mentioned above a raw water system flush would not hurt anything and is easily accomplished once you are set up. I keep a five gallon bucket in my tool shed filled with the required bits of hose with adapters, a small Rule bilge pump and a power supply for the pump; although you could power...

OMG! I am so sorry. That's what I get for trying to do this with a 6-month old GGK in my lap. :)

    Dingy lights

It's there, Inland Rule 23 (c) —INLAND—Lights and ShapesRULE 23—CONTINUED(c) A power-driven vessel of less than 12 meters in length may, in lieu ofthe lights prescribed in paragraph (a) of this Rule, exhibit an all-round whitelight and sidelights.

    Dingy lights

As I said, INLAND rules, Rule 23 (c). The 7 knot rule is International. And another thought. The all around white light mounted on an outboard, as long as it is not obscured by people is OK, but a tricolor on a swiveling platform seems a bit absurd.

    Dingy lights

Assuming your 9.5-foot long dink is powered AND that we are talking about US Inland rules, you may use a 2-mile visible all around white light or a pair of 1-mile visible side lights and a 2-mile visible stern light. So be sure the lights have a USCG certification stamp somewhere for the...

    Pilot 30 -Trim

I have a different hull design, but my side exhaust is a bit in the water. Other than getting rid of the Brait part of my combination anchor rode the only forward weight added is 80 more feet of 1/4" chain to the 100 feet the boat came with.

Side window mod Mainship 30 Pilot II

I had it made by a local upholsterer whose shop was near the house. He was willing to do the odd canvas job over the years on both my boats. I helped him measure for it, and it was really simple. I bet you have the in-house talent to handle it.

Side window mod Mainship 30 Pilot II

Here are some more photos of the job. You can see where I gained a lot of visibilty as I hold up the old closure over the new window in the first photo.

Side window mod Mainship 30 Pilot II

I have been off the air on this topic for a while as I conducted my research for this project. I finally settled on Wynne Marine in Tuscumbia, AL for the manufacture of my aluminum framed, three slinging panes windows for both price (about a third the cost of the Florida-based company that...

    Shaft Keel Bushing part needed?

Most boats I see with a flat exit out of the skeg like you have are equipped with a cutless bearing housing there.

Mainship Pilot II 30 salon floor replacement

I cut a four-inch diameter hole in my MS 30 P II's cabin sole to allow me to replace the tripping hazard the table mounting became with the table removed. I used a flush-mounted fitting. Anyway, the veneer is definitely not wood, but the subsurface to which it was bonded to is thick plywood...

Mainship Pilot II 30 water in the cabin

In addition to the source Bacchus mentioned, look closely at the windshield-to-cabin seam. Also look at the portlight rubber seals. I had a leak coming through the Bomar hatch in the cabin top which was quickly taken care of with a very thin line of 3M 5200 made possible using tape on either...

    Repair help needed!

Phelps and me?? In regard to the overhang, I'd look at it as something akin to soffit repair of a house. Cut that mess out of there and renew with some CPES-soaked plywood. As for the rest of that hot mess, I'd break out the sanders and take it all down to whatever layer of paint/gelcoat...

    Auto Pilot

I bought my new AP through a local marine electronics dealer who agreed to come to my boat to survey the mounting locations for the various components to be installed by me. He also was on the hook to come a troubleshoot if his connection directions did not result in a properly working AP. It...

That's what mine was, Benmar Cetek. The drive motor was indestructible, and if yours is working, not a problem to connect to the output of the AP's brain.
