When we got Sonas last year the chair in the PH was already well past its prime, and as this year wore on got got much worse!

So I had my canvas and upholstery guy come and take a look to see if he could handle it. He also does auto upholstery.

We also changed to color since blue was a stark contrast to the PH colors. We already had enough beige and wood in the PH, so went with burgundy as a nice compliment to the browns. This entailed having the frame powder coated to match the new upholstery.

He did a nice job.

Great looking redo!
As I have a Stidd chair that needs redoing am interested in the approximate cost and the type of credentials you would recommend .
Thanks

The upholstery itself was $650. So if I had stayed with the original color, or not far off it, that would have been it all in - they came and took it off and re-installed it as well.

I have used these guys on numerous boats for about 10 years. So for me it was knowing their work. They redid the cushions on my AB RIB a few years ago and did a superior job. Plus they do a ton of upholstery for boats in this area.

So for me - knowing their work and seeing it for others. But also the fact that they reupholster autos - which can be intricate, and have some demanding customers.

They have two more of my projects in the hopper. An in-water cover for my 15' RIB and the upholstery job on the older fly bridge helm chair after the new year.

I know you are not in this area, but have a look at their Facebook photos for examples.

Thank you Menzies ....exactly what I needed to know

Might want to give stidd a call and ask them the current price for a cushion set for your particular chair. We did a low back admiral a couple of years back for around $400 iirc.

I might be over doing the beige thing myself. It never occured to me to do a contrasting color on my Stidd chair, but now that I see the effect, I may consider that in the future.

Will do for the fly bridge chair early next year before I commit. Though based on a $5,500 new chair price I paid last spring my assumption (maybe erroneous) was that there was no way I was going with STIDD for the new leather!

Will let you all know.

The replacement cost for arm rests, seat, back cushion, and the back shell (all new parts not reupholstered ) was $1,000 in 2016. Will be weighing options this winter.

i'm researching options for new to me OA 52 fly bridge seats. Know about Stidd
see Flexsteel makes helm chairs, Todd, Tacco (?). Others?

The lab will miss the GB bench!

Just curious, did you talk with Stidd? My experience has always been great with their customer support and they even had had replace parts for free that got damaged over years. Maybe they have changed their policies.

And purple blends right in :)

It looks good, I can think of a boat it would look right at home in.
When are you re painting yours?;)
