Has anyone adapted gas liftgate/tailgate struts to hold up the wooden stairs in their boat? I am talking about the two or three steps in an old trawler that swing up to reveal a hatch into the engine room. If so, info about strut size and where you mounted them (pics) would be much appreciated.
