Can anyone tell me if a 1995 Nordic tug with a Cummins has a turbo ?

Welcome aboard. What is the horsepower?

It is probably a 6B engine, I think they are 210HP. Good engine.

My 1990 6BT 5.9 w/ 210 hp is turbo charged. It is in a Sundowner not a Nordic.

The 210 is a 6bt, which is turbocharged. The 6b is not turbocharged, relatively scarce and around 150 hp.

Turbos yes, aftercoolers no. We recently replaced both turbos and exhaust angles/raw water introducers.

I was thinking of the 6BT, which is 210HP, my mistake.

As others have stated, that engine is turbo charged but does not have an aftercooler 9to the best of my knowledge). That Cummins engine (the entire 6B series including the ones that are turbo charged and/or aftercooled) are very dependable engines with parts readily available and most mechanics are very familiar with them. I know an NT 37 owner who has over 10,000 hours on his 6BTA.

The aftercooler, which that engine does not have, is the most maintenance intensive item on these engines.
Most tugs are operated at approx. 1/2 throttle, and the turbo does even "kick in" most of the time. However, run the engine up to 80% throttle for 10 minutes every so often to "exercise it" and "clean it out".
